St Peter’s Catholic Primary hosted the second Vlogging workshop for children, from Castle Hills, Saltersgate, Home Educated and pupils from St Peter’s. The workshop was run very enthusiatically by James from Talegate Theatre with technical support from Simon.
After introductions and warm up sessions the children settled down to tell each other which books they loved reading and why! There was a wide variety of authors chosen, with children wanting to look at the offerings from each other and feeling excited to talk about their books. As one of the children said, it made it feel important to be able to talk about their own choices.
The workshop encourages their confidence and ability to communicate with each other. It also has the bonus of improving their writing skills as they had to develop their own scripts ready for the final filming sessions. These were completed in St Peter’s Library with some children choosing to co-operate on joint presentations about their favourite books. The level of excitement grew as each of the children completed their book reviews. James then undertook the task of taking the films away for editing and the children are really looking forward to seeing their results being shown on the DBA website.
One of the children summed up the workshop as a ‘Brilliant Day’.
