Hollie from Year 9, De Warenne Academy:

This book is an interesting read if you like long stories that start off slowly. I wouldn't recommend this book to any one below 12 because you have to really understand what you are reading or you wont have any idea as to what the book is about. My favourite character is the protagonist of the story, Lyra. In the book shes described as a 12 year old girl who loves exploring new places and getting into trouble and in my opinion i like the fact they have shape shifting creatures called daemons as pets. Overall, i like the book to a certain extent but i slowly grew bored of reading it since it starts at a slow pace unlike most of the books i have read.

Elodie from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:

This book is was full of adventure .Even though Mrs Coulter is the villain, she is my favourite character. It was a page turner when I found out her true identity. Read this book to find out. I would truly recommend this book for people who have a good sense of adventure. Are you are adventures as Lyra? I really enjoyed this book .Would you?

The book northern lights hooked me because it dropped hints on which character would see the lights at the beginning lord arsil focused on the dad of the child who would see them explaining what she would do The girl had no idea she was going to betray someone.

Violet from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:

Northern Lights is overall quite a good book, but I would recommend this for people who like to read a book for a long time as it took me a long time to read. This book is about a girl named Lyra who lives in a college and wants to go to see the Northern Lights, but Mrs Coulter, a lady, who Lyra meets, is going to the North and Lyra would like to go too but will her journey be successful and who will she find on the way? Who will Lyra meet? What will happen on her journey? In this book there are a few suprises, which are not expected ;however, I think the surprises make this book very interesting! I recommend this book for people who are 10+ as it has very high quality language and vocabulary!
