cara from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
If you like books with made up words and exciting turn outs then this book will be amazing for you. My favourite chapter is the railway cat and the song of the jellicles. Books with fun and exciting words will be the best for you and this is one. If you like cats and lots of different cats you will love this book. This book has different chapters. This book is for age nine and over.
dakota from Year 6, Pheasant Bank Academy:
its ok but its boring at the same time
georgie from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Do you like cats? Or books that rhyme? Well if you do you will want to read this book. Personally I would never read this book again because I think it is exceedingly boring as I don't like cats and I don't like poem books. If I could I would have rated it 0 out of 10 because it was that boring but I cant as I feel it would be offensive. It is a book about all the different types of cats and their personalities. It also explains what they get up to in their personal life. I still cant understand why (in the middle) it was talking about dogs and their personalities instead of cats. I found it very confusing. I would recommend this book to about 4-12 year olds - but only if you like books about poems and cats! Which I don't.
summer from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
I thought this book was really good because I love cats and I thought that the poems were really good. these poems are grate for people who like animals, especially cats, as every one of these poems are about them. I think that people at the age of 6 to 12 would like these poems.
Anna from Year 8, Healing School - A Science Academy:
After going to watch the mesmerising Andrew Lloyd Webber musical with my grandparents, my Granddad preceded to purchase the book of poetry for me. I thoroughly enjoy poetry so to see the lyrics from the show, it was really fantastic. The poetry was so clever and brilliantly structured. It was such a clever and lovely idea. The characters and stories were really great and thought provoking. I re read this book so many times, labelling my favourite lines and phrases throughout. I always love to read this book whenever I feel down. It is a perfectly uplifting and relaxing book of poetry. A must read.
kaitlin from Year 8, Ridgewood School:
this book is about all different types of cats and what they do.and it describes what the cats are like. i liked this book because it rhymed sometimes however the book is a unusual but it can be very funny however i think that it was a bit boring and i think it needs more of the poems to rhyme so then it will flow and you will be more intrigued and would want to read more and more of this book. that is why i rated it a 7/10
Abigail from Year 7, Ridgewood School:

Libby from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
This book was very good but some poems don't make sense .It wasn't a page turner book and I would like a book with poems about different animals . I enjoyed this book because of the humour . My favourite poem was The Naming of Cats because its the funniest one .I rated this book 6 because some bits didn't rhyme .I would recommend this book to above 7 years old .Over all a would say this book was great.it surprised me with the bit in the middle with the dogs.
rachel from Year 8, Ridgewood School:
do you like cats? Well if so this book if for you, I gave this book a 8 not a 10 because I wish it had a better story as there really isn't that much of suspense in the book however I did like how the book rhymes and how the book is repetitive, I did enjoy this book and I hope you do to and I recommend you read this book .
Tobias from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
This book is an awesome! I think this is a 100% funny. I would recommend this for young people ready to laugh! my favourite cat is Bustopher Jones [AKA the grand cat] You should read this amazing book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9/10
Paige from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Cats is an amazing book and I loved it because it has loads of made up cat types. My favourite chapter was the song of the jellicles because it was different to all the other chapters. My favourite character name was Rum Tum Tugger because I liked the way the author T.S. Eliot makes it rhyme. This book is bursting with cool pictures and made up words. I rated this book 10 out of 10 because I thought it was different to the other poem books.
molly from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:
in my opinion this book was quite boring because its a poem book. it just consists of like mini poems as chapters i would of prefered an actual story instead. One of the things i like about it is that it rhymes and has little diagrams of the different cats and that so you have a better idea whats going on in the poems.
Gracie-rose from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:
This book has lots of interesting poems about cats. Its gives amusing insight on the life of a cat. The poems are about different cats and how they live, like the theatre cat and the old gumbie cat! In the future I would recommend this book to younger readers to help develop their reading ability.
Ruby from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Do you like cats? Then this is the book for you. There are 15 stories some long and some short. My favourite poem is the Naming of cats ( which is the first poem) its about naming a cat but they want an unusual name. This is a good book but it has lots of tricky names that I couldn't pronounce. I would recommend this book to people 7 and over because of the tricky names.
Tasha from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
If you love Cats then this book is for you. If you hate Cats then this book is for you. If you love Poems then this book is for you. If you hate Poems then, unfortunately, this book is not for you. Did you ever think you had a Gumby Cat? Ever need proof? The proof is lying inside the book of poems. The book has several poems about the cats that do mysterious things. The cats that just need a telling off. And even them cats that just need a snuggle. This book is amazing and full of brilliant poems about cats. I hate cats but I still loved the book. This book is also relatable to cat owners as when you read one of the poems you will at least once say "Yes, that's my cat" or "Yes, that's my little angel" or even "Yes, that's my little rascal". Its just hard not too...
Jacob from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
This book is very boring mainly because it doesn't make sense and also because I don't really like rhyming books. This book is very boring so I definitely don't recommend this book to anyone else, it might just be me that doesn't understand but I still don't recommend it. My overall rating is 4 and I think I have a good reason for that but the author is quite talented for making everything rhyme so I do give a bit of credit for it but still do not read this book.
Calla from Year 6, Owston Park Primary School:
This book, even though its a poetry book, is really good. After learning the poem/song 'Macavity The Mystery Cat' in class and acting a poem out in one of the amazing acting classes we did, I would just put the poems into songs into my head!
Eleanor from Year 8, Ridgewood School:

Moving on, this book is great as every new cat act leads to a different subjects- therefore more excitement can be made! So first off, I rated this book a 7 due to the fact of its good vocabulary, silly story lines and it's funky pictures! This book is waiting for all cat lovers to engulf it- you know you want to!
alysha from Year 6, Pheasant Bank Academy:
I like this book because cats are my 3rd favorite animal and soon they will be my 2nd favorite because of this book! I also like the poems which are also funny! I also give this book a 10 because of the funny poems! I would recommend this book to ages 6+ because thats how much i like this book!
Tessa from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:
I rated this book a 3 out of 10 because I found it extremely boring and it was also quite confusing at times. There are a lot of made up words, rhymes and riddles in this book and personally I don't really like things like that. If you like poems, cats, riddles and rhymes then you'd like this book a lot. I feel like this book was made for younger readers and that might be a reason why I didn't enjoy it as much as some other people did. I wouldn't say that it's a bad book, I just didn't find it very interesting or enjoyable.
Jayden from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats - do you like cats? If so, this book is PERFECT for you! TS Eliot wrote the poems which are good; however the images are black and white, so the illustrations are quite boring! That is why I rated it two stars below full marks (ten). The good punctuation keeps the song or poem flowing nicely, so we don't get distracted. My favourite part was 'The Song of the Jellicles' . What will your favourite be?
elwik from Year 4, Adwick Park Junior School:
