Jayden from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Please Mrs Butler is a poem book by Allan Ahlberg about a day at school and home. It has five chapters with many rhymes within them. My favourite rhyme was Dog In The Playground because it was adventurous and about a dog running around the school. My least favourite was The Ordeal Of Robin Hood because it was long and just about a boring school play which featured a Polish child who kept doing everything wrong. I also liked Balls On The Roof because it's length was nice. The illustrations in the book a black and white and basic, but fit in with the storyline nicely. I rated it three because of some of the bad comments I mentioned in the paragraph above as well as an old theme to it, such as some names are old, however on the back it says Happy 30 th Birthday Please Mrs Butler.

I really enjoyed Please Mrs Butler because I thought all the poems were extremely funny. I would recommend this book to over 5's because there was not really any hard words to read. It was not scary in the slightest. My favourite poem was called Dog in the playground! I like the fact that it was sectioned off into different parts of the school day my favourite sections were playtime and school time. Would you enjoy this book? These are the names of the sections in order: school time play time dinner time school time again home time I would definitely recommend this book highly If you read this book, I hope you enjoy it a lot
Jacob from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
This book is ok but it is certainly not the best book in the world. This book has lots of rhymes about school, home time and play time. The rhymes are quite good so I have rated this book a 7. My favourite rhyme was actually called please Mrs butler! My least favourite was the ordeal of robin hood because it just goes on and on for pages and pages.
luck from Year 4, Town Field Primary School:

Grace from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
This book- Please Mrs Butler-was quite funny at times but some parts just poetic writing. My favourite poem (in the book) is ...Is That Your Apple?... on page 90 because it is probably the most funny out of the many prodigious poems in this book. I would rate this 8 out of 10 because of the high level vocabulary.
Lucy from Year 6, Windhill Primary School:

This book is all around amazing. As you probably already know this book is written by Allan Ahlberg. He is a very good writer and you will probably agree with me after you have read the book fully. It is a poem book and a very funny one to and it is about a day at school and at home. Some of it is extremely weird and some of the children in it are to. I would say this book is for children the age of 5 to 13. Because this book was so amazing I rated it a 10.

Kaitlyn from Year 6, Bentley High Street Primary School:
This book is full of poems. The book isn’t about Mrs Butler it is just called that because the first poem is called Please Mrs Butler. My favourite poem is “Who Knows” because it is funny and confusing at the same time. It is about two boys arguing whether they know something about what they might not know. The boy says he knows something this other boy won’t know. Here is a script! 1st boy: “I know something you don’t know.” 2nd boy: “No you don’t, I know it.” 1st boy: “How do you know it when I haven’t told you what I know.” 2nd boy: “I just know it.” This poem carries on and gets confusing. So I really loved this book! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!!!
kacey from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:

The poem book Please Mrs Butler is a very exciting book because it has a lot of other poems. My favourite poem is Please Mrs Butler because I like it how the teacher got so annoyed she said things like "go and sit in the sink dear" and other terrible things like that. I think in the poem please Mrs Butler at the end of it the teacher should get sacked and the girl did one of the things that the teacher said.
Jay from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:
I really enjoyed this poem book because it made me remember what it was like to be in primary school and what it was like to be a kid. It was really funny and highly entertaining.
