This book, Dirty Bertie, is hilariously funny and is about a boy that wonders if aliens exist.I would recommend this book for boys because I don't think girls will like this nose picking boy. All in all I have rated this book an eight.
Ellie from Year 6, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Primary School:
Wow this book is awesome I'd love to read more
Harry from Year 6, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Primary School:
Yuck! Dirty Bertie is a revolting book about dirty habits, dirtiness and so much mess! If you want a disgusting book, read this.
olivia from Year 8, Ridgewood School:
This book is about where a buy goes to his friends to look at his friends dads telescope and he sees a "UFO" just when he thought it was just a mistake he saw a poster showing a expert about aliens was coming to town. He visited the event with his dad and talked to the expert about his sightings. That night he left a message for the aliens to come and visit him. The next day two aliens visited him and he called the expert but when he called him and he came his mum riveled the aliens to be his friends! I liked this book because it was something different to read not like a every day book you would choose out of your school or local library
Grace from Year 6, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Primary School:

fearne from Year 6, Owston Park Primary School:
the genre of this book is: funny Dirtie Bertie is a good book I really enjoyed it.I wood recomend this book to anyone. the book has illustrations because they introduce humar to the story. the story started by Bertie wanting to look through darrens telescope but darrens dad is very over protective Bertie persuaded Darren to let him look through it eventually Darren let him look through. He looked through and "he saw a UFO" so he joined every club about sci-fi to find out infomation on alians but his friends know that hes being crazy. he was then trying to contact aliens. one day his friends dressed up as aliens and tryed to convince him they were aliens when you could clearly see they were aliens. my favourite charachter was eugene because all of of eugenes friends are silly and eugine isnt he is realy smart and it seems like he shouldnt be friends with them.
Amie from Year 6, Owston Park Primary School:

summer from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
I loved this book because it is so funny and all three books made me laugh. my favourite one was the first one (Aliens) because it was so funny at the end. I would recommend this book to most people because I found it so good and I think other people would to.
Paige from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
I really like the book Dirty Bertie Aliens because it was bursting with hilarious pictures and language as well as 3 cool stories. I would recommend this book to 6 year olds plus because there was easy language.
Ellie-Mae from Year 6, Green Top Primary:
I didn't enjoy this book that much, because it is more for younger people than my age. I thought that the book was funny in places but sometimes it was a little bit boring. The story is about a boy who has two friends and one day they are one friend's house and they see a shooting star. They look through the telescope and they realise it isn't a shooting star - they think it is an alien spaceship. I would recommend this book for children aged 5-7 years.
bevan from Year 5, Hexthorpe Primary School:
this book is really funny but it is a bit boring in most of the book it is about a boy that wonders that Aliens exist .
bevan from Year 5, Hexthorpe Primary School:

Lilly from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Hello . My name is Lilly and I have read Dirty Bertie Aliens by David Roberts . Even though it didn't have millions of words on a page ( I love books with lots of words ) I still enjoyed it . I gave this book a ten out of ten because it was amazing . You should read this book . If you don't like aliens, this is not a book for you . if you don't like birds this is not a book for you . Please read this book and write a review about it . My favirot character is bertie ( even though he is very dirty ) because he is fun and silly. this is a very silly / fun book . if you don't like silly / fun books this is so not a book for you .
Megan from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
One word to describe this book is 'exciting.' I really, really enjoyed this book because there was a lot of curiousity building up inside of me and I couldn't stop reading it. Surprisingly, I actually put the book down -for once.- My favourite character was probably Bertie because he is a really funny character. However, he is quite peculiar and clumsy.
Grace from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
This funny, adventurous dirty boy named Bertie is probably the most curious child I have ever heard of! There is quite the variety of more books about this erratic boy. Bertie, who has two best friends, is always getting into trouble. I loved this book because it is short, how I like it, and because of the awesome vocabulary. I gave this book an 8 out of 10.
Eleanor from Year 8, Ridgewood School:
What a disgustingly funny book! Mixed with yucky mucky mayhem, Dirty Berite plunges you in to some of his wierdist moments with comedy added in as well. Join Bertie to discover his unusual encounters with new areas, things and other surprises waiting for you! I enjoyed reading the book Dirty Bertie because it gripped your mind with disgusting thoughts which made you chuckle a lot! Lots of the storyline in the book brought my back to my early life where I too had a lot of new things to look at, see and explore; Dirty Bertie was a young cheeky me! It was definitely a page turner as I finished it the day I took it out! Lots of laughs are hidden amongst this book! I would recommend this book for younger readers as the older readers may find this book too old for them. It includes quite childish points that did put me off as it became slightly boring. This is why as well I rated this book a 7! Overall a light weight read to entertain my mind!
cara from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
I love all Dirty Birty books they are so funny and I especially I love this one. It has 3 stories with very easy language and hilarious pictures I recommend this book for kids 6+ because of the easy words and they have lots of speech. I was so excited to read it. :)
Ruby from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
This is a book about a young boy who gets into lots of trouble. It includes 3 stories which are Aliens, Twitter and Report. I would recommend this book to people 5 to 10. I rated this book 8 out of 10 because it only has one girl in and I like a mixture of girls and boys. If you have a bit of time before you go to bed you could read one story because there not very long.
Ivana from Year 7, The Armthorpe Academy:
The book is cheerful and funny and very suitable for children. The book is about a boy who likes aliens and believes that they exist.
Libby from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Do you like a book that's really funny? Then this is the book for you. This book is very funny and unusual. I like the fact that it has 3 short stories in it that are ALIENS!, Twitter and Report which was my favourite. I rated this book 9 because I would like more information in the stories. I would recommend this book to 7 to 11. I thought this book wasn't the best one have read but wasn't the worst . My favourite story was report because I liked the bit when he say that if he would write a report his teacher he would put.....Miss Boot is the worst teacher in the universe. She is bad tempered, grouchy and cannot spell.
Jayden from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Split into three stories (Aliens, Twitter and Report), this is my favourite book I've read so far on the Doncaster Book Award list. In Aliens, the children look through a telescope and one of them sees what he thinks could be a UFO in the sky. Could it be a UFO or not?... In the second story, which is called Twitter, one of the kid's best friend invited him to go bird-watching. They go looking for one special bird, which could not be seen from the bird hide. He gets really annoyed and fed up, but what might happen now? Lastly, in Report, it's Bertie's parents evening. He needs his report which he got previously in the week. His parent's never get to see the actual report from Miss Boot until parent's evening. What could Bertie have done to it before his parent's read it?...
Tasha from Year 7, Ridgewood School:
Dirty Bertie aliens is good but not the best. I think that its very confusing because inside it there is many other stories. I must say that Dirty Bertie Aliens is my favourite because its funny. When Bertie's friends dress up as Aliens to fool him then in comes the Aliens Master who is annoyed at the fact it was a false call. Its so funny and i really like it but as i said before; its very confusing
Lily from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:
When I red this book it was quit boring. I would think it will be suitable for age 8/9
Olivia from Year 6, Owston Park Primary School:
The title is Dirty Bertie Aliens by Alan Macdonald and illustrated by David Roberts. This book is the funniest book I have read in this years books. The content was hilarious and I could not stop laughing! It was that good. Anyway, my favourite story was "Twitter" because Bertie just happened to find the rare bird they were looking for. Gross but absurd. How could Bertie be fooled like that in "Aliens"? That is the best quality of him. I would recommend that you read the rest of the series because they are the funniest book series in the WORLD! Storyline 4/5 and illustrations 4/5. Recommendation ages for 7+.
kady-leigh from Year 6, Montagu School, Mexborough:
Bertie writes a message for the aliens and one day his friends drees up as aliens and Bertie thinks it is two real aliens.
Calla from Year 7, Owston Park Primary School:
I really enjoyed this book. It has so much comedy in it! I rated it 9/10 because it is quite short (i'm used to long books). I recommend this book for 3+. The illustrations are AMAZING! And, did you know that David Roberts, who illustrated The Bolds, illustrated this book! That means he has two books in the DBA. Well done David!
Lilly from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Do you like books with not a lot of words? Or do you like books about aliens ? Well if you do Dirty Bertie aliens is a great book for you. I give this book a 9/10 because it does not have as many words on a page as I want it to. This book has 3 stories. My favourite story is the story about aliens and my favourite character is Bertie I think the stories in this book are great. I like books with a lot of words but not too many. Well if you have read this book please write a review about it :)
Ellie Glover from Year 7, Rossington All Saints School:
It was Funnay :)
Taylor from Year 7, Rossington All Saints School:
I liked this book but it was revolting
georgie from Year 5, Saltersgate Junior School:
Do you like books that are funny? Or maybe books that are about aliens? Well if you do you will like this book. This book has three different stories in it and they are all about a boy called Bertie otherwise known as Dirty Bertie. I rated this book a 2 because it wasn't that interesting (mainly because it was for boys). I didn't really like it that much and it was a bit boring especially in the first story when Bertie thinks he will be able to see aliens, a UFO and rockets through a telescope! My favourite bit out of the whole book was the start of it when Bertie, Darren and Eugene all race to the end of the street, but Bertie stops to look at a sign about aliens and thinks he will get to meet the guy who drew the poster! Overall it was an extremely boring book and I didn't enjoy it.
Priya from Year 5, Hexthorpe Primary School:
Dirty Bertie: Aliens what a great book! I would definitely reccommend this book to people who like books with pictures/illustrations. At the beggining it's a normal day then it just turns into a big mysterious Plus at the end it has a very big twist! Overall it is just an awesome book!
Jay from Year 8, Don Valley Academy and Performing Arts College:
I didn't enjoy this book at all because it is very disgusting and also quite boring to me. I think that this book would be a lot better for primary school pupils because it is easy to understand and aimed at younger readers.
